Reiss is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with minors. The judge said Reiss will be placed under sex offender supervision and he must comply with all recommendations for treatment stemming from a psychosexual evaluation. Testimony revealed Reiss most recently was working as a technician for a water bottling company. The judge said Reiss can be made eligible for work release but only after serving at least eight months of the jail term. At least 84 of the images and videos depicted toddlers and infants being sexually abused, according to a criminal complaint. In arrest documents, authorities alleged a forensic analysis of items seized from Reiss’ residence uncovered 1,437 image files and 258 video files depicting children under the age of 18 engaged in sexual acts or posing nude. “There needs to be accountability for your horrific conduct.” “What is more disturbing is you were a police officer,” said Rothstein, adding Reiss should have been arresting people for possessing such content, not seeking it out. The judge said it is people like Reiss, those who download and possess child pornography, who create the market for it and allow children to be raped and sexually abused. Rothstein said as she imposed the sentence, adding that after reviewing some of the evidence in the case, she was “sickened by the content.” Nothing could be farther from the truth,” Judge Wendy G. “Many people view this as a victimless crime. Reiss also must complete three years of probation following parole, meaning he will be under court supervision for about five years.
